Program Overview

To create a culture of awareness, confidence, and leadership in our black youth by providing knowledge, resources, and shining examples of success in their community. To educate youth on the systemic issues of structural racism perpetuated through Politics, Religion and World Economics.  Ultimately youth will identify their value and purpose in life.

Bridge Maryland, Inc. (BMI) – 40+ Faith Institutions, across 5 counties and Baltimore City. We are a Faith-based ecumenical group and like to call ourselves the Chess players for Education & Justice

  • Life Skills/What is my self-Interest? (Part 1)
  • Communication/How to communicate with legislators
  • Conflict Resolution/Deescalating a bad situation
  • Peer Pressure/What is my self-interest? (Part 2)
  • Health/Sex Ed
  • African American History/The History of Racism
  • Dress for Success/Taking the Seat of Power
  • Financial Literacy/World Economics
  • Leadership/Conducting a One to One
  • Vision Board/Politics/Legislation 101
  • Weekend Race & Power Summit

Program Components

  • 12 – Month Course
  • 2 hour increments
  • Greeting/Motivation. A Pledge is recited at the beginning of every session.
  • Introduction of topic (session) and speaker
  • 60 min – Speaker (more time can be allowed if applicable/needed)
  • Q&A
  • Measurement of progress
  • Lunch & sharing session, students share with each other what they learned and how they plan to apply it.
